Persian architecture, a well-preserved heritage
The ancient Persian Empire has an exceptional geographical location. Its particularity lies in its unique structure characterized by a terrace construction. The buildings there are, in fact, founded on the side of a mountain and linked together by courtyards and roofs which also serve as pedestrian spaces. It should, however, be noted that this does not authorize access to motorized vehicles. Apart from Masouleh, the Rud-Khan castle is not to be missed during a visit to Guilan. This ancient fortress was built on the top of a mountain surrounded by forest. It is arranged on a height difference of approximately 700 m and has ramparts of nearly 1,600 m. With 42 intact towers, this construction is the perfect example of medieval military citadels.
