ThailandeThe 3 must-see parks in Thailand
Thailand is a country that contains sumptuous natural treasures. This country of smiles contains remarkable national parks. These parks are home to a varied and rich flora and fauna. We have selected for you the three essential national parks of Thailand.
Elephant Nature Park, a nirvana for elephants
If you want to explore one of the places little known to globetrotters, discover the Elephant Nature Park. This site is located in Chiang Mai, the sixth largest city in Thailand. As its name suggests, this park welcomes elephants in poor health, weakened by training or too old to distract tourists. In short, it is a true haven of peace for these mammals. There, these animals are cared for, fed and find a small slice of wild freedom. During your trip to Thailand, you will go there as a simple visitor or on an eco-volunteer mission. This expedition is ideal for sharing the daily life of elephants. On site, there are bungalows if you wish to stay a few days to participate in the care program for these pachyderms. To access the Elephant Nature Park, you have two options, either use the services of an agency, or go there on your own, that is to say by vehicle (preferably a 4×4) from Chiang Mai.
A visit to KhaoSok National Park
KhaoSok National Park is one of Thailand’s sumptuous reserves, a must-see place if you want to be in total fusion with nature. Located in the south of the region, this site is made up of a forest almost 160 million years old. This jungle is made up of huge trees reaching almost 65m high. Between these giants, you may find the glowing rafflesia during your Thai travels. This specimen is one of the largest flowers in the world with a width of 90 cm. Added to this exuberant setting are some mountains, lakes and caves. The whole forms a prime habitat for animals such as gibbons, barking deer and tapirs. It is possible to discover this biodiversity by going on treks or hikes. This protected area is crisscrossed by several trails that will delight novice or experienced athletes. Canoeing is also an alternative allowing you to see another side of the place through the Sok River.
The famous Erawan National Park
To continue your travels in Thailand, visit, for example, the famous Erawan National Park. Just like the two previous sites, this one attracts many tourists. This protected area takes its name from a cliff in the shape of an elephant enthroned within it. If you venture near the waterfalls, you will discover a setting made up of several basins serving as natural swimming pools. These are fed by waterfalls. Furthermore, along the way, you will undoubtedly see a few trees surrounded by objects serving as offerings to the spirits who have taken up residence inside these plants.
