Description: Discover the charms of Iran and Armenia with a combined Iran and Armenia tour. Tour 18 days / 17 nights.

Day 1: Shiraz 

Arrival in Shiraz by Turkish Airlines flight. After visa formalities, welcome by your driver and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Shiraz

After breakfast, discovery of Shiraz, the city of roses and nightingales, capital of the province of Fars where the name of the Persian language comes from, Persian (Farsi). Shiraz lets you discover its gardens with century-old cypresses. Visit the Narandjestan Palace or the orange grove decorated with ceramics, stucco and mosaic mirrors, the Nasir-al-Molk mosque, Qajar building with earthenware with rose motifs, the mausoleum of Hafez (Aramgah-e-Hafez), the greatest mystical poet of the 14th century. Visit the Vakil complex (the mosque, the hammam and the bazaar) and then discover the Eram garden, a botanical garden designed in the 20th century.

Day 3: Shiraz – Persepolis – Naqshe rostam – Shiraz

Day dedicated to the discovery of Persepolis, one of the largest archaeological sites located 60 km from Shiraz. Discovery of the royal necropolis of Naqsh-e Rostam as well as the bas-reliefs of Naqsh-e Rajab. Return to Shiraz. Visit the Koran Gate (Darvazeh and Koran), a monument which houses the Koran and which, according to tradition, wishes a safe journey and welcomes visitors.

Day 4: Shiraz – Pasargadae – Abarkouh – Yazd

On the way to Yazd, stop at Pasargadae, the first Achaemenid capital where the tomb of Cyrus is located. Continuation to Yazd, and stop at Abarkouh to visit the Friday mosque and discover the 4,500-year-old sacred Cypress, one of the 3 oldest trees in the world.

Day 5: Yazd

A city of adobe on the edge of the desert, Yazd is, in essence, the city of Zoroastrianism and a fine example of traditional steppe architecture. Visits: the Towers of Silence, the Fire Temple, Amir Chakhmaq Square and its theatrical Tekiyeh, the water museum, the house of strength, the traditional Iranian gymnasium (Zurkhaneh in Persian), the Dowlat-Abad garden, governor’s residence, the old town, the bazaar.

Day 6: Yazd, Meibod, Nain – Isfahan On the way to Isfahan, the first stop at Meibod, the city of potters. Discovery of the Sassanid fortress of Narin and the Safavid caravanserai Abbasi. Continuation to Isfahan and a second stop at Na’in, where we visit the very old Friday Mosque. Arrival in the evening in Isfahan and check in at the hotel.

Day 7: Isfahan

A true jewel, the third city in Iran by population, Isfahan was the glorious capital of Shah Abbas at the beginning of the 17th century. Morning dedicated to the discovery of one of the most famous places in the world, Naqsh-e Jahan, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its three wonders, all dating from the beginning of the 17th century, built during the reign of Shah Abbas I. Visit the Masjid-e-Imam mosque, the Sheikh Lotfollah mosque, the Ali Qapu Palace. Then, visit the pavilions of Hasht Behest and Tchehel Sotoun.

Day 8: Isfahan

Visit to the Armenian quarter of Djolfa, and its cathedral of Vank (Saint-Sauveur). Discovery of the Jameh mosque, the largest in Iran. Walk along the banks of the Zayandeh River, spanned by the bridges of Khadju, built during the reign of Shah Abbas II, and Sio Seh Pol, with thirty-three arches.

Day 9: Isfahan – Kāchān – Tehran

Departure towards Tehran; Stopover in Kāchān and discovery of the city, once one of the most prosperous oases in Iran. Visit the Agha Bozorg mosque and a traditional house, then the Bagh-e Fin garden, and the Kāchān Bazaar. Continuation to Tehran and en route, passage to Qom for a quick overview of the holy Shiite city. Arrival in Tehran in the evening.

Day 10: Tehran

Tehran is a beautiful, picturesque and bustling city, located south of Damavand, the highest point of the Alborz Range. Your discovery of the capital begins with a visit to the Golestân Palace, the oldest in the city, dating mainly from the 19th century, recently listed as a UNESCO heritage site, and which brings together prestigious buildings around a park, sumptuously decorated and museums. Then visit the great Bazaar of Tehran, then the national museum of Iran, the Museum of Glass and Ceramics (Abgineh), which is in a very beautiful 19th century pavilion. Then visit the Museum of the Joys of the Crown, a fabulous treasure, whose windows house superb precious stones, rough or cut diamonds, and tiaras with crescents. Visit the famous Tabiat bridge which is worth saying the “Nature bridge” and which is a bridge intended for pedestrians.

Day 11: Tehran – Tabriz (evening flight)

In the morning discovered the northern districts of Tehran, discovery of Tajrish Square and its traditional bazaar. Then visit the Darband district and the Sa’ad Abad plais. Transfer to the domestic airport for an evening flight to Tabriz.

Day 12: Tabriz – Kandovan – Tabriz

In the morning excursion to Kandovan, visit this spectacular village with its incredible troglodyte houses, where there are still inhabited artificial cliff dwellings. Afternoon, return to Tabriz and discover of the capital of Iranian Azerbaijan, of mixed Turkish-Persian culture: The Blue Mosque, from the 15th century, the Museum of Eastern Azerbaijan, the covered bazaar, one of the longest in the world, and the Shah Goli Park, with its royal pavilion in the center of the small artificial lake.

Day 13: Tabriz – Jolfa

Departure for the border town of Jolfa in the Araxes Valley, which borders the Republic of Azerbaijan. Visit the beautiful Saint-Stéphane monastery, isolated in the middle of the hills, and the Armenian church of Saint-Thaddeus, which is according to certain Christian sources, one of the first churches founded by the apostles of Jesus Christ. This monastic complex has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2008, alongside the monasteries of Saint Stepanos and Holy Mother of God of Dzordzor, located in the same region.

Day 14: Jolfa – Meghri – Tatev – Goris

Entry into Armenia, then stop at Meghri for a short walk in the center of the city, to discover its districts. Visit the Petit Quartier church, covered with beautiful 19th-century frescoes. Departure for the town of Goris, a picturesque town located between the mountains and which stands out for its unique charm compared to other towns in Armenia. On the road visit the Tatève monastery which can be visited by cable car.

Day 15: Goris – Noravank – Khor Virap – Yerevan

Visit to Noravank monastery, Visit to a wine cellar and taste in the village of Areni. Then, visit the Khor Virap church, dominated by Mount Ararat on the Turkish border, this is the place where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned.

Day 16: Yerevan – Etchmiadzin – Zvartnots – Yerevan

Walk in the city of Yerevan, the discovery of the market, the large Cascade staircase monument, and the Northern Avenue. Visit Matenadaran, Machtots Institute for research on ancient manuscripts. Then, departure for the town of Etchmiadzine (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – the seat of all Armenians, visit to the church of Ste. Hripsime, the cathedral, and the remains of the Zvartnots temple finally return to Yerevan.

Day 17: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan

After breakfast, depart to the pagan temple of Garni. Garni is the only temple of the pre-Christian period on the territory of Armenia. Then visit the Geghard monastery (UNESCO world heritage site) dug into the rock dating from the 12th century. Its name was translated by the sacred lance in honor of the lance which was used in the crucifixion of the body of Christ which was preserved there for a long time.

Day 18: Yerevan – Paris

Return flight to Paris.
